    Candidate briefing

James Talarico is a Texas state representative from the Austin area and the 2026 Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. A Presbyterian seminarian, he won the March primary over Rep. Jasmine Crockett and now faces Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in November.

Talarico has been one of the Texas House’s most visible progressives on public education, reproductive freedom, and the state’s hard-right turn. His Senate race is the highest-profile statewide Democratic campaign in Texas this cycle.

Why Political Revolution supports him: a working-class, values-driven Senate campaign in Texas is a national fight — and Talarico is running it in the open.
