Local offices have no party denominator. About 75% of municipal seats and over 90% of school boards are elected on nonpartisan ballots, so nobody publishes a Democratic seat count to divide by. These are counts of people we back, not a share of every city council.
Each statewide office is 50 states. Joint-ticket and appointed officeholders are included. Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon, and Wyoming have no lieutenant governor; Alaska, Hawaii, and Utah have no secretary of state — those seven use the governor’s party so every total is 50. The map fill is how many people we list in that state, not party control.
