From Ballotpedia: "Jamie Long (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 61B. He assumed office on January 8, 2019. His current term ends on January 3, 2023."
Jamie is running again for his District 61B seat. He is running unopposed in both the Democratic primary on August 9th and the General Election on November 8th. Progressives in his District should plan to vote for him in the General Election.
Aisha Gomez
State House, Minnesota State House District 62
From Ballotpedia: "Aisha Gomez (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 62B. She assumed office on January 8, 2019. Her current term ends on January 3, 2023."
MN candidate filing information shows that Aisha is running in District 62A. Recent redistricting has moved 62A west and south into what was the old District 62B. Aisha will compete against a Democratic challenger in the August 9th primary, but will face no other competition going into the General Election on November 8th. Progressives should be supporting Aisha NOW so that she can win the primary. With a primary win, she will effectively win her election.
Hodan Hassan
State House, Minnesota State House District 62
From Ballotpedia: "Hodan Hassan (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 62A. She assumed office on January 8, 2019. Her current term ends on January 3, 2023."
Hodan will be running in the newly redistricting District 62B which includes some of her old District, but which is changed from previous elections, adding some uncertainty to her District which voted heavily Democratic in the past. She will not face a challenger in the Democratic primary on August 9th, but will face a Republican challenger in the General Election on November 8th. Progressives will want to support her going into the General Election and if in her District, vote for her on November 8th.
Emma Greenman
State House, Minnesota State House District 63
From Ballotpedia: "Emma Greenman (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 63B. She assumed office on January 5, 2021. Her current term ends on January 3, 2023."
Emma is running again for her seat in District 63B. Her District is changed with recent redistricting, but Emma is running unopposed in both the Democratic primary and in the General Election on November 8th. Progressives in her District should plan to vote for her in the General Election on November 8th.
Jay Xiong
State House, Minnesota State House District 67
From Ballotpedia: "Jay Xiong (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 67B. He assumed office on January 8, 2019. His current term ends on January 3, 2023. "
Jay is running for his District 67B seat and will face no challengers in the Democratic primary on August 9th. He will face a Republican challengers in the General Election on November 8th. His District does not appear to be substantially changed with recent redistricting, and has voted heavily democratic in the recent past. Progressives should plan to support him going into the General Election and if in his District, vote for him on November 8th.
Angela Conley
County Commissioner, Hennepin County, Minnesota, District 4
Angela is running for re-election as Hennepin County Commissioner in District 4. She is the only candidate who has filed with the state of MN for this position. Progressives in her County District should plan to support her and vote for her in the General Election on November.
Ryan Winkler
County Attorney, Hennepin County, Minnesota
From Ballotpedia: "Ryan Winkler (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 46A. He assumed office in 2019. His current term ends on January 3, 2023."
This election cycle, Ryan has chosen to leave his position as Majority Leader in the MN House and instead run for Hennepin County Attorney. The incumbent attorney is stepping down, and seven candidates are running for this position. Ryan faces an uphill challenge. Progressives should be supporting Ryan NOW so that he can come in in the top two candidates who will then run for election in the General Election on November 8th. Progressives should continue to support Ryan through the General Election so that a Progressive can move into this key Executive position in the Hennepin County government.
Keith Ellison
Attorney General, Minnesota
From Ballotpedia: "Keith Ellison (Democratic Party) is the Attorney General of Minnesota. He assumed office on January 7, 2019. His current term ends on January 2, 2023.
Ellison (Democratic Party) is running for re-election for Attorney General of Minnesota. He declared candidacy for the Democratic primary scheduled on August 9, 2022."
Keith faces no challengers in the Democratic primary on August 9th, but will face a Republican challenger in the General Election on November 8th. Keith is a Progressive firebrand who has worked for years to move the Democratic establishment left. Progressives in MN should support him and plan to vote for him in the General Election.
Mississippi
Bennie Thompson
U.S. House, Mississippi Congressional District 2
From Ballotpedia: "Bennie Thompson (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Mississippi's 2nd Congressional District. He assumed office on April 20, 1993. His current term ends on January 3, 2023.
Thompson (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Mississippi's 2nd Congressional District. He is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
Bennie has the dubious distinction of heading up the Jan 6th Committee in the House. It is possible that the Republicans are gunning for him. He has one challenger in the Democratic Primary, and multiple Republicans are running in that Primary. Progressives in the state of Mississippi would do well to support Bennie in any way that they can in the Primary election and the General in November.
Missouri
Lucas Kunce
U.S. Senate, Missouri
From Ballotpedia: "Lucas Kunce (Democratic Party) is running for election to the U.S. Senate to represent Missouri. He is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on August 2, 2022."
Missouri Progressives: this is an election that you will want to be involved in and involved in NOW. The Senate desperately needs more Progressive representation, and Lucas would be a welcome addition. That said, this will not be an easy election to win. In the Democratic primary on August 2nd, Lucas faces nine other Democrats. BUT if Progressives can provide their support to Lucas going into the primary, he may well come out on top in the crowded field. If Lucas can win the primary, he will then face a Republican challenger in the General Election on November 8th. Missouri has voted Republican in recent elections, but with his Progressive credentials, Lucas can attract disenfranchised voters and possibly bring this in for a win.
