Imani Oakley ran for the U.S. House in New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District in 2022. She challenged incumbent Rep. Donald Payne Jr. in the June 7, 2022 Democratic primary.
Oakley was born in New Jersey. She graduated from Howard University in 2012 and New York University in 2014, and earned her law degree from Howard University in 2017. She has worked as dean of movement building with Movement School and has been associated with Working Families New Jersey.
Payne won the primary with 83.3% to Oakley’s 10.6%, then won the November 8, 2022 general election. PolRev covered her 2022 campaign.
