Stephanie Gallardo ran as a Democrat for the U.S. House in Washington’s 9th Congressional District in 2022, challenging incumbent Democrat Adam Smith.
Gallardo was born in Seattle. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2012 and a graduate degree in 2016 from Western Washington University. She has worked as a high school teacher and labor organizer and served as an elected board member of the Washington Education Association and the National Education Association.
In the August 2, 2022 top-two primary she finished third with 15.9% of the vote. Smith (55.2%) and Republican Douglas Michael Basler (20.6%) advanced, and Smith won the November 8, 2022 general election. PolRev covered her 2022 campaign.
