Candidate briefing
Amanda Gonzalez is the 2026 Democratic nominee for Colorado Secretary of State. She is finishing her first term as Jefferson County clerk and recorder and campaigns as an election attorney who has already run large-scale elections.
Gonzalez previously led Colorado Common Cause and has worked on automatic voter registration and ballot access. She won the June 30 Democratic primary over state Sen. Jessie Danielson. If elected, she would be the first Latina and first out LGBTQ+ person to serve as Colorado’s chief elections officer — at a moment when the office that oversees elections is under national attack.
Why Political Revolution supports her: the secretary of state’s office is a democracy job, and Gonzalez is a voting-rights professional running to protect access instead of restricting it.
