2022 race briefing
Tom Winter represented District 96 in the Montana House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021, after unseating a Republican incumbent in 2018. He is a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
When Montana gained a second congressional seat after redistricting, Winter ran for the open 1st District on a platform of paid family leave, universal childcare, climate action and the PRO Act. In the June 7, 2022 Democratic primary, Monica Tranel won with 64.9%, Cora Neumann took 26.9%, and Winter received 8.2%.
Republican Ryan Zinke won the seat that November. The PCCC backed Winter in the primary, and this card keeps PolRev’s record of the race.
