2022 race briefing

Ruth Richardson won District 52B in the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2018, unseating Republican incumbent Regina Barr 53.7% to 46.1%. She was re-elected in 2020, defeating Cynthia Lonnquist 55.5% to 44.5%.

In the redrawn district in 2022, she was unopposed in the Democratic primary and beat Lonnquist again on November 8, 2022, 61.7% to 38.2%.

Richardson, who was then leading the regional Planned Parenthood organization, resigned from the House on September 1, 2023. Democrat Bianca Ward Virnig succeeded her. The PCCC backed Richardson in 2022, and this card keeps PolRev’s record of that race.
