50501 – 50 STATES 50 CAPITOLS PROTEST – HARTFORD CT

It has been only two weeks, yet enough is enough. It is time for the American people to stand up against the fascism, racism, hate, homophobia, discrimination, and all out tyranny present in the country following the inauguration of the 47th president of the United States. We can all agree that Project 2025 is DANGEROUS AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL. As the American people we cannot allow this to happen. Join a PEACEFUL protest at CT’s state capitol in Hartford on February 5, beginning at 12PM. THIS IS A PEACEFUL PROTEST. VIOLENT DEMONSTRATORS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!! Together, we are powerful and will not sit and watch as other US citizens have their rights and healthcare stripped from them!!

What to do:

• BRING TRASH BAGS!! CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES!! Leave the place looking better than it did before!!

• Wear blue if possible

• Wear close-toed shoes

• Just as a precaution, bring a mask to cover your face. You are not obligated to wear one, this is just as a precaution

• Bring plenty of water and snacks.

• IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT ANY TEARGAS OR PEPPER SPRAY WILL BE USED AT ALL! CT IS KNOWN FOR BEING A VERY PROGRESSIVE STATE AND WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT TEARGAS OR PEPPER SPRAY PEACEFUL PROTESTERS. BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY IM ALMOST 100% SURE WE WONT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT IT. IF YOU DO HAVE CONCERNS BRING EXTRA WATER AND A MASK. MILK CAN ALSO BE HELPFUL FOR PEPPER SPRAY

• Dress accordingly for the weather conditions. IT WILL BE COLD!!

• Make and bring protest signs

• Do not wear any expensive clothing or jewelry just as a precaution

• Remember, this is a PEACEFUL PROTEST - NO VIOLENCE WILL BE TOLERATED

• Do NOT block anyone from entering the capitol or getting to where they need to be, as this could interfere with people’s work and daily lives

• In case of any injury, medically trained individuals with medical supplies will be identified by RED BANDANAS around their wrist. If you are MEDICALLY TRAINED and intending on bringing medical supplies, wear a red bandana around your wrist. If you do not have a red bandana and will be a part of the med team please wear some form of red clothing. IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THE MED TEAM PLEASE DO NOT WEAR RED AS THIS WILL MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR US TO FIND A MEDIC!!

• Parking: there is a free parking garage at the Legislative Office Building, there is a floor specifically for visitor parking with a tunnel leading straight to the capital. There are many other parking garages around the area of the capitol as well

• Bathrooms - there will be a shortage of public bathrooms, so it is best to improvise in whatever way you may like, just as long as it’s out of public view of course. I know many people that will be bringing buckets in their cars. Gross, I know, but you have to do what you have to do

• IF THERE ARE ANY COUNTER PROTESTERS LIKE WE ARE EXPECTING, LIKE MAGA, PROUDBOYS, ETC, REMEMBER THAT THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTEST AS WELL. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL AND IT IS RECOMMENDED TO STAY A GOOD DISTANCE AWAY FROM THEM AND IGNORE THEM!! PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT CONSIDERING THE EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE ON JANUARY 6, THEY COULD BE VIOLENT. DO NOT ENGAGE EVEN IF BEING PROVOKED. IF YOU WITNESS A PEACEFUL PROTESTER BEING HARASSED OR ATTACKED, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO RECORD. THIS CAN BE HELPFUL IF POLICE NEED EVIDENCE THAT YOU OR ANYONE ELSE THAT MAY BE ATTACKED WAS NOT THE AGGRESSOR. PLEASE DO NOT BRING WEAPONS!!! IF YOU ARE WORRIED FOR YOUR SAFETY, YOUR BEST BET IS TO LEAVE AND/OR INFORM LAW ENFORCEMENT. SAFETY COMES FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE!!!

• I do not anticipate anything becoming violent or dangerous, as this is a peaceful protest, but in case of the unexpected, please make sure people have access to your emergency contact list on your phone without having to unlock it first. You don’t need to remove your password to allow access to emergency contacts

• It is recommended to put your phone on airplane mode and remove your Face ID so others can not unlock your phone. Let me explain why. If your phone is not in airplane mode, it gives officers the opportunity to track your phone and link you to the protest. This protest does NOT have a permit, but that doesn’t mean you’re not legally able to do this!! Look at the announcements for more info on that. I also recommend visiting the aclu website for more information on your rights during a protest without a permit. With that being said, Connecticut is obviously a blue state, and I highly doubt that police will try to figure out the identity of participants AS LONG AS YOU ARE PEACEFULLY PROTESTING
