New Hampshire
Gerri Cannon
State House, New Hampshire State House District 180
From Ballotpedia: "Gerri Cannon (Democratic Party) is a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Strafford 18. She assumed office on December 5, 2018. Her current term ends on December 7, 2022.
Cannon (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the New Hampshire House of Representatives to represent Strafford 12. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2022."
Gerri is on the ballot with 4 other Democrats for 4 open seats in the newly redistricted Strafford 12. This new District maintains much of the old area as Gerri's old District, Strafford 28. In the General Election on November 8th, the 4 Democratic candidates will be running against 4 Republican candidates. Progressives in NH should be supporting Gerri to insure that she wins one of the 4 seats in the General Election on November 8th.
New Jersey
Andy Kim
U.S. House, New Jersey Congressional District 3
From Ballotpedia: "Andrew Kim (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2019. His current term ends on January 3, 2023.
Kim (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District. He is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
Andy faces one challenger in the Democratic Primary and then in the General Election he will face Republican and Libertarian challengers. Progressives will want to keep Andy in office, and should plan to support him starting in the Primary and through the General Election.
Bonnie Watson Coleman
U.S. House, New Jersey Congressional District 12
From Ballotpedia: "Bonnie Watson Coleman (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing New Jersey's 12th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2015. Her current term ends on January 3, 2023.
Coleman (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent New Jersey's 12th Congressional District. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
Bonnie faces no primary challengers in the June 7th primary. She will face a Republican challenger in the General Election November 8th. Unless redistricting has changed the district substantially, this has been a heavily Democratic District. Progressives in her District must be sure to vote for her in the General Election.
New Mexico
Elizabeth Thomson
State House, New Mexico State House District 24
From Ballotpedia: "Elizabeth Thomson (Democratic Party) (also known as Liz) is a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 24. She assumed office in 2017. Her current term ends on December 31, 2022.
Thomson (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 24. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022.":
Elizabeth faces no challenger in the June 7th Primary but will face a Republican challenger in the November 8th election. Redistricting of the District may have an impact. Progressives should plan to support her in the General Election on November 8th.
Natalie Figueroa
State House, New Mexico State House District 30
From Ballotpedia: "Natalie Figueroa (Democratic Party) is a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 30. She assumed office on January 1, 2019. Her current term ends on December 31, 2022.
Figueroa (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 30. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
Natalie faces no challengers in the June 7th Democratic Primary. She will have a Republican challenger in the November 8th General Election.
Rudy Martinez
State House, New Mexico State House District 39
From Ballotpedia: "Rodolpho Martinez (Democratic Party) is running for election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 39. He is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
Rudy was elected to this seat but then lost it to a Republican opponent in the last election. This is a race that Progressives might make the difference in if we get involved. There is one other Democratic candidate in the June 7th primary, and then if Rudy wins, he'll face the incumbent in the General Election on November 8th. This WILL BE a close election, and again, Progressive support might make the difference in Rudy getting re-elected.
Andrea Romero
State House, New Mexico State House District 46
From Ballotpedia: "Andrea Romero (Democratic Party) is a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 46. She assumed office on January 1, 2019. Her current term ends on December 31, 2022.
Romero (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 46. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
If Andrea can get past her 2 primary challengers, she likely should be re-elected in the predominantly Democratic District which does not appear to have changed substantially with recent redistricting. Progressive support will be needed in the Primary election on June 7th. She is Emily's List endorsed and that will be a help too.
Stephanie Garcia Richard
Commissioner of Public Lands, New Mexico
From Ballotpedia: "Stephanie Garcia Richard (Democratic Party) is the New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands. She assumed office on January 1, 2019. Her current term ends on January 1, 2023.
Richard (Democratic Party) is running for re-election for New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022."
Stephanie has no challengers in the June 7th Primary. However, she will face a Republican challenger for this office in the November 8th General Election.
New York
Melanie D'Arrigo
U.S. House, New York Congressional District 3
From Ballotpedia: "Melanie D'Arrigo (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) is running for election to the U.S. House to represent New York's 3rd Congressional District. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 8, 2022. She lost in the Democratic primary on August 23, 2022. The Working Families Party primary for this office on August 23, 2022, was canceled."
This will be a difficult election for Melanie to win, and if Progressives want to see this seat going to a Progressive, support will be requited NOW, and through the November 8th General Election. Melanie currently needs to build her base and somehow distinguish herself in a field that includes a Democrat, a Conservative, and a People's Party candidate in the General Election on November 8th. This seat is rated in 2022 as Toss Up by Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball, and Lean Democrat by Inside Elections. A Progressive running on positions that reflect what the people of American want for our country may be just what is needed to get a Democratic win in November. But support will be required for Melanie to win.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
U.S. House, New York Congressional District 14
BNC PY DSA PY JD PY OR OR PY PCCC PR PY
From Ballotpedia: "Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing New York's 14th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2019. Her current term ends on January 3, 2023.
Ocasio-Cortez (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent New York's 14th Congressional District. She declared candidacy for the Democratic primary scheduled on August 23, 2022. She declared candidacy for the Working Families Party primary scheduled on August 23, 2022."
Although Alexandria was the only candidate running in the Working Family Party primary, she faced one other candidate in the Democratic primary on August 23rd. UPDATE: Alexandria won the Democratic Primary. She will now face a Republican, a Conservative Party and an Independent candidate in the General Election on November 8th. Progressives should be supporting her now so that she will decisively win the General Election. This Congressional District is rated Solidly Democratic in 2022 by rating trackers. Progressives should be getting out the vote and if in Alexandria's District, planning to vote for her in the General Election.
