This could be a close election if Republicans vote and Democrats don't so it is important that progressives get out and vote for Terry.

Utah

Darlene McDonald

U.S. House, Utah Congressional District 2

JD PY PR PY

From Ballotpedia: "Darlene McDonald (Democratic Party) is running for election to the U.S. House to represent Utah's 4th Congressional District. McDonald advanced from the Democratic convention on April 23, 2022. The Democratic primary for this office on June 28, 2022, was canceled."

This could be a POSSIBLE Democratic pick up in 2022 if Progressives in the state get out there and support Darlene. Darlene is the sole Democratic candidate for this Congressional seat, but she will likely face the Republican who is the incumbent and definitely will be running against a United UT Party Candidate and an independent write in. The District has been expanded into what looks like conservative areas with redistricting probably because the Democrats suffered a heartbreaking loss in 2020, losing the seat to the Republican incumbent by 1% of the vote. If Progressives in the state get out to help Darlene build her base, it is possible that this Progressive running as a Democrat could be elected in the November 8th General Election in 2022.

Elizabeth Payne

Board of Education, Murray, Utah

OR PY PCCC PY PR PY

Elizabeth is up for Re-election to the Murray Board of Education Precinct 4 in Utah. Progressives are few and far between in this state, and it is great to see that she was elected in 2020. Progressives are asked to support her especially in light of the right wing attacks on Board of Education members. She will be on the Ballot November 8th, and will not have any challengers for her seat.

Peter Welch

U.S. Senate, Vermont

OR PY PR PY

From Ballotpedia: "Peter Welch (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Vermont's At-Large Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2007. His current term ends on January 3, 2023.

Welch (Democratic Party) is running for election to the U.S. Senate to represent Vermont. He is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on August 9, 2022."

The incumbent senator is retiring (Patrick Leahy), and Rep Welch will be competing with two other Democrats in the Democratic primary on August 9th. Progressives should plan to support Rep Welch NOW to insure that he wins the primary election and builds his base going into the General Election on November 8th when he will face a Republican running for this office. As state representative, Rep Welch won by a large margin in Vermont. Hopefully, he can repeat this election result and put two Progressive senators in the US Senate from the state of Vermont.
