Jessica Cisneros earned her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked as an immigration attorney and immigrant rights advocate.
She first challenged Rep. Henry Cuellar in the March 2020 Democratic primary and lost 48.2% to 51.8%. In 2022 she forced him into a runoff after the March 1 primary, where he took 48.7% to her 46.6%.
Cuellar won the May 24, 2022 runoff 50.3% to 49.7%, a margin of 281 votes, and went on to win the November general election. PolRev covered her 2022 campaign, and this page remains as a record of that race.
