2022 race briefing

Mandela Barnes served as Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor from 2019 to 2023 and won the August 9, 2022 Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. He lost the November 8, 2022 general election to incumbent Republican Ron Johnson by about 26,700 votes (49.4%–50.4%). He later sought the 2026 Democratic nomination for governor, then suspended that campaign on July 30, 2026 ahead of the August 11 primary and is not on the November 2026 ballot. PolRev supported his 2022 Senate campaign.
