2022 race briefing
Marie Newman lives in La Grange, Illinois. Before Congress she worked in marketing and advertising and founded the anti-bullying nonprofit Team Up to Stop Bullying.
She lost to Rep. Dan Lipinski in the 2018 Democratic primary, then defeated him in the March 17, 2020 primary and won the general election that November. She served one term, from January 2021 to January 2023.
After redistricting she ran in the new 6th District against fellow Rep. Sean Casten. Casten won the June 28, 2022 primary 67.7% to 29.2%. PolRev covered her 2022 campaign, and this page remains as a record of that race.
