2022 race briefing
Matt Brown served as Rhode Island’s secretary of state from 2003 to 2007. In 2018 he challenged Gov. Gina Raimondo in the Democratic primary and won 33.5% of the vote.
He ran for governor again in 2022 against incumbent Gov. Dan McKee. McKee won the September 13 primary with 32.8%, followed by Helena Foulkes at 29.9%, Nellie Gorbea at 26.2% and Brown at 7.9%. McKee won the November general election with 57.9%.
