2022 race briefing
Ruth Buffalo was born and raised in Mandaree, North Dakota, and earned master’s degrees in public health, management and business administration. She was the Democratic nominee for North Dakota insurance commissioner in 2016.
In 2018 she won one of District 27’s two seats in the North Dakota House of Representatives, and she served from December 2018 to December 2022.
She ran for re-election in 2022 and advanced from the June 14 Democratic primary. In the November 8, 2022 general election, Republicans Greg Stemen and Josh Christy won the district’s two seats, and Buffalo finished third with 24.1%.
