2022 race briefing
Doyle Canning earned her law degree at the University of Oregon. She has worked as a community organizer and attorney, and she was vice chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon’s Environmental Caucus.
In 2020 she challenged Rep. Peter DeFazio in the Democratic primary and won 15.4% of the vote. After DeFazio retired, she ran for the open seat in 2022 and finished second in an eight-candidate primary with 16.1%. Val Hoyle won with 63.5% and went on to win the general election.
In 2024 Canning ran for Oregon House District 8 and lost the May 21 Democratic primary to Lisa Fragala. PolRev covered her 2022 campaign, and this page remains as a record of that race.
