2022 race briefing
Farrah Khan earned a B.A. in English literature from UC Davis in 1997. She worked as executive director of the Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council and as a regulatory affairs manager at a biotech company, and she founded First Drops. She won a seat on the Irvine City Council in 2018.
In 2020 she was elected mayor of Irvine, defeating incumbent Christina Shea 47.6% to 36.1%. She won re-election on November 8, 2022 with 37.8% of the vote in a five-way race, ahead of Branda Lin at 27.5% and Simon Moon at 18.9%.
Khan did not seek another term as mayor in 2024. She ran for the Orange County Board of Supervisors in District 3 and lost the March 5, 2024 primary to incumbent Donald Wagner, 63.5% to 36.5%. She left the mayor’s office on December 10, 2024. The PCCC backed Khan in 2022, and this card keeps PolRev’s record of that race.
