2022 race briefing
Mike McCarthy grew up in Vermont and earned a B.S. in biochemistry and political science from St. Michael’s College. He owned a bakery and café in St. Albans, worked as a solar project consultant, chaired the St. Albans Downtown Board and served on the St. Albans City Council.
McCarthy served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 2019 to 2025, serving on the House Government Operations and House Rules committees. In 2022 he won the August 9 Democratic primary for the Franklin-3 district with 94.5% of the vote, then defeated Republican Joe Luneau 57.4% to 42.4% on November 8.
Luneau won the seat in a 2024 rematch, 53.9% to 45.7%. Our Revolution and the PCCC backed McCarthy in 2022, and this card keeps PolRev’s record of that race.
