Odessa will face no other Democrat in the primary on August 4th. She will however have a tough campaign ahead going into the General Election on November 8th. In the General Election, she will be on the ballot with the District’s incumbent Republican, and one Independent challenger. The District which appears to have contracted with redistricting voted heavily Republican in the past. Progressives should work with Odessa to use her community organizing skills to build her base of support, and get out Tennessee’s notoriously non-voting voters. If Tennessee’s Progressives want another Progressive representing the state in the Congress, here is that possibility.
