It’s Time To Change the Way We View Mental Health
Hello Revolutionaries,
This week in the Revolution we are focusing on Mental Health awareness
. Why are we doing this now?
Mental health is a hugely important aspect of our society that often gets overlooked. Traumatic events are happening in the world, and we fail to really process what just happened. It’s not necessarily something we know how to do, either. Our society doesn’t give us the tools to reflect, process, and grow from some of these events. What’s more than that, we forget to check in on our mental health
because
we don’t have the tools.
We take it for granted.
When it comes to what we do as progressives, we endure all the same struggles as our fellow Americans, but we also actively apply our core values to what we passionately believe in. We see it in our community; activists burn out.
This is why we must bring light to this important issue now.
We’re gearing up for one of the momentous years in the political cycle. We’ve had some community members step up to speak up about their experiences and why they do what they do. It’s time for all of us to touch base with why we do this. And why it is important to express our mental health in order to value it in our own self-interest.
Our sincere hope at the end of this week is that we all have a deeper empathy for mental health, understand why we do what we do, and have some tools for empowerment.
We will be focusing on a different aspect of mental health each week. We also are encouraging people to submit their stories on political_revolution.reddit.com throughout the week. We will feature them here!
